2007 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event ****

The 2007 Rolex Winners

Attending Rolex, North America's only four star event, had always eluded me.  It had always clashed with my schedule.  Last year it was foaling time for a special member of the family, but usually it was due to the dreaded four-letter word work. 

I can honestly say that it was like no other competition that I had ever attended.  Combining the beauty of the Kentucky Horse Park with the expert skill and knowledge of the Rolex staff, and the phenomenal talent off this level of competitors cannot be beat.   Members of our staff attended dinner with an eclectic group who routinely competes at or works at the event.  We were chided as being Rolex virgins and our experienced companions informed us that we had no idea what we were in for. Were they correct!

The international field consisted of  41 competitors who rode their dressage on Friday.  In Sunday's stadium round, only 32 were left. After a suspensful and surprising day, the final placings were:

1st Place Clayton Fredericks (AUS) Riding Ben A Long Time
2nd Place Phillip Dutton (USA) Riding Connaught
3rd Place Karen O'Conner (USA) Riding Theodore O'Conner
4th Place Ian Miller (GB) Riding Full Circle II

We had an exciting weekend getting interviews with two of the sports most exciting stars Werner Geven and Bonnie Mossier.  These interviews along with a multimedia tribute to Karen O'Conner and Teddy will be featured in our Top Line Section of the site.
