05/5-6/2007 - Poplar Place Farm USEA Recognized Event

Poplar Place Farm in Hamilton, Georgia always provides competitors with a challenging venue to put their event horeses through thier paces. Spectators were able to enjoy watching both amateurs and world class riders during the competition.

At this event I caught up with adult rider Amy Navitskis. She was riding a lovely mare by the name of Imagine Irish.

Last minute encourgement before X-C

Amy was competing in her first recognized event since she was in college. I wanted to know what criteria she used to determine that she was now ready to compete?

Amy first explained that she is boarding at a facility that specializes in Eventing. This allowed her to practice all three phases without having to leaving that farm. This came in handy since she now was married and also worked full time.

She is riding in a lesson program with an accredited and seasoned instructor. This allowed her to work with someone who could increase her skill level and help her prepare for anything that she may encounter during the event.

Amy made sure that both she and her horse was in shape. She also had Irish's saddles properly fitted to make sure her horse could move effortlessly in her tack. Amy's husband and her canine 'Tanner' came along to ease her nerves.

Even with all of her preparation, Amy said that there were moments when you could have cut the tesion with a knife.

I'm happy to say that Amy and Imagine Irish handled the weekend like pro's. They finished 3rd in their division. Way To Go Amy!
